For Oreo ...

I have a friend so loving and true
He is my shadow under gray skies or blue
He cared not how I dressed, if my hair was uncombed
His love transcended beyond looks alone
Remember how we ran and played on the lawn
He would always have the biggest smile on
Until we were tired and home we would go
He would follow behind me, tired, and walking slow
Night would fall and peacefully he would sleep
I would pet him gently as he starts to dream

Love him, I do, with my whole beating heart
But now comes a time that we have to part
With tears in my eyes I'm giving you away
Not because I don't love you, but there's no other way
A new home, new parents, maybe new playmates too
Someone who will love you, unconditionally and true
Whoever they are, I will try to find the best
You deserve much more, you're not like the rest
Someone genuine and sincere, that will cause you no harm
Someone who will truly appreciate you, and all your charm

A more loving companion I will never know
I will miss you dearly, my sweet Oreo
