I own pets, mostly cat since i was a kid. None of them I buy. They are given by other people who had problems to keep them or I found strays or they just come to my house and stay. I had deal with the hyper, the timid, and the sick.
I have an experience with 4 river slider turtle. 2 at a time. First pair manage to got away while in the care of someone else. 2nd pair, I manage to keep them for about 3 years. One day I found egg shells in their aquarium. I feel so bad and cruel that I can't provide proper place for them. I made a few phone calls but nothing none can help, so I made a hard decision to let them free in one place I believe they can survive. Since then, I promise to myself not to adopt pets if I don't have the capacity.
Recently I adopt 4 guinea pigs. 2 for me, another 2 for my parent but I keep them first so it will be easier for me to consult my parents on how to tackle the piggies. It's been 2 months and they became fat and healthy :D.
Other than that, I had minor experience with below animals;
- rabbit (helping my parents) - eagle (helping my father) - civet (try to save severely injured new born baby civet, but only survive about a week.)
I see pets as a therapy. I'm loving the process of taking care of them, but of course within my capacity.
