Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) was initiated in 2009 as a canine welfare project under non-profit organisation Community Development and Integration Initiative (CDII).
MDDB does not have a shelter but instead manages a half-way-home where dogs are allowed to settle in and recuperate after their ordeals. Sometimes they get adopted but most of the time they don't.
MDDB has dogs that have been with the organisation since the ca nine welfare project was initiated in 2009.
MDDB's main purpose is to initiate a humane and efficient stray management system to be implemented by local authorities to replace the current catching and culling method.
The group also offers a second chance to seriously injured dogs that would otherwise be euthanised.
Stray mothers and their puppies are also MDDB's priority and the group has rescued and rehomed more than 2,000 dogs and puppies since 2009. For the first 6 months of this year MDDB has managed to rehome about 110 puppies and dogs through its bi-monthly adoption drives.
As a proponent of the Trap-Neuter-Release-Manage (TNRM) stray management system, MDDB's plans for the next two years centers around an experimental exercise to implement the system in suburban locations.
