Felix came into my life last March. He is a rescued 3 year old poodle who already had 4 owners. At first I only intended to foster him as I already have a poodle, Napoleon. But after failing to find him a suitable owner I decided to let him stay and if a potential owner comes along, I will be happy to consider giving Felix a new home. However 3 weeks ago, Felix suddenly lost the use of both his hind legs. My kangaroo-like boy is now crawling on the floor! My heart was broken and I cried every night with Felix as he cried out in pain. Pain killers and steroids given to him were not helping him. Five days later my independent rescuer friend introduced me to a vet that gives acupuncture treatment. I dashed over. Felix has narrowing disc in his spine. This has caused him to become paralysed. My question was, can acupuncture make him walk again? The Vet cannot promise. I agreed to let Felix be treated. He stayed at the vet for 2 weeks and yet improvement was very little. I decided to take him home. Acupuncture will continue but I must do therapy to help him stand. Felix is now home for a week. Although he is still not standing but this brave little fella seems to not give up on walking. Everyday, he will be readily eager for me to work with him. He will not let his problem stop him from moving around the condo, barking at the door, playing with his toy and going up to the door to greet me and my brother when we return home. I am amazed at his determination to live his life regardless of his temporary diabilities. He has taught me about fighting spirit and the positive energy that can be built within oneself as long as there is hope. Felix knows that he will stand, walk, run & jump again. If he is so sure about it, there is no reason why I should doubt that the day will come soon! Thank you, Felix for showing me bravery and determination to live and enjoy life no matter what circumstances we are in. Kambateh, my boy! 😍
