Fosterer Needed For Mother-Cat And 7 Kittens (Jennifer Govins)

Message:
I found a mother cat and her 8 kittens about 2 week ago. The smallest
one is really weak and small ( about the size of a new born) while the
rest are almost 4 weeks old. They have all been to the vet including
the mother.

My problem now is that I am not able to care for them all as the small
one takes up alot of my time, he has to be fed via syringe, is sevrely
dehydrated and maybe premature. The vet ( I’ve visited 2) are not oo
sure why he is not eating as the rest of them. I am caring for him
round the clock as the mother has abandoned him completely.

I need help in finding volunteers to foster the mother and her other 7
kittens. They are already starting to eat dry food mixed with some
water. 3 of them have started eating dry kibble. And I have 2 adopters
who are willing to take in 3 of them.

The vet have also advised that I spend more time with the small one
hence I am not able to divide my time with the rest, as I also have 3
cats of my own.

I really appreciate your help in this matter as I’m at my wits end.
Please do help.

Regards.

More from Jennifer:

This is the little survivor. I am keeping a very close eye on him/ her. Vets are not sure what’s wrong, Alien ( that’s what we call him) is very underweight, dehydrated even thou he is being syringe fed every 2 hours (4ml). He is also coming to 4 weeks old but is still the size of a new born weighing only 100g. He is extremely weak, most times hardly able to walk and balance. Notice the large head and bulgy eyes.

Wonder if you know any other vet that may be able to advice me on the best care for him. I’ve brought him to the PJ vet hospital, but they are not able to diagnose anything specific. I have been told that he is premature and may be suffering from excessive fluids in the head, pressing on the brain causing the extremely slow growth.

I have recommended Jennifer to consult my vet in Subang Jaya for an opinion. My rescued cat, Vixey, was physically-challenged as a result of a brain trauma. My vet guided me throughout on how to nurse and look after Vixey for two years until she finally passed on naturally. She was so, so special to me and we had a very precious bond.

Sometimes, our rescues may pose challenges that seem difficult to surmount, but with an empathetic and supportive vet, we can still provide our best for them, and sometimes, it is experiences like these that propel our confidence to greater heights which we have never dreamed of ever reaching.
