Rabies claims 59,000 human lives every year‼
Together with @RabiesAlliance or the Global Alliance For Rabies Control (GARC) we are spreading awareness and busting myths related to rabies to save animals and humans as we get ready to celebrate #WorldRabiesDay on September 28th.
✴️Did you know that even after being exposed to a rabid animal, you can still prevent #rabies and save a human life? Seek medical treatment and receive rabies post-exposure prophylaxis immediately before the onset of symptoms to stay safe.
For 2021, the World Rabies Day theme is Rabies: Facts, Not Fear. This theme highlights critical aspects in where we are now in our fight against rabies, and how we can use that to help us achieve global dog-mediated rabies elimination:
1) we have the knowledge, strategies and tools to eliminate rabies;
2) we can use those successful approaches and tools to prevent, control and eliminate the disease;
and
3) we can help save lives by spreading awareness about rabies, and teaching others how to prevent it.

There are hundreds of ways you can act in line with this year’s theme in your community, ranging from individuals working together to make a difference, to national government ministries working together on a joint anti-rabies campaign.
Collaborate by organizing local dog walks or fun-runs to raise money and awareness about rabies, work with a local shelter to ensure that all the animals in your neighbourhood are vaccinated against rabies, host webinars or conferences to get different organizations or groups to work together.
