Sometimes letting go is the best thing to do. Although MDDB adheres to no kill, we have no choice but do it in extreme cases. Since MDDB was set-up, tomorrow will mark the 3rd time we have euthanised a doggo. One was Mr Face, that had face cancer and the othet was Amanda, who had broken every bone in her body into many many small pieces in an accident. Tomorrow, we will be doing the same for Old Man Boomer. Boomer came to us more than five years ago from Ipoh after he was rescued from a drain. He was old, had lesions in his body, an injured eye and a damaged leg. He became blind in one eye and the shatteted leg was amputated. But he ate and lived well. As he grew older, the lesions, that were skin cancer kep on appearing but we managed to supress it with treatment. However, he has come to the end of the journey with the cancerous lessions reappearing aggressively and Boomer is now in pain – even to touch. Today he was fed the whole day and allowed to bask and enjoy the sun for long hours. Tomorrow Sept 1, the vet will come over to help Boomer end his pain and move on to the Rainbow Bridge. We are saddened but under the circumstances, it is the best thing to do.

Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better

Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better is a canine welfare programme initiated by non-profit organisation Community Development and Integration Initiative (CDII).

MDDB's main activities revolve around rescuing dogs from the local council pounds as well as off the streets. Once they have been rescued, the dogs are vaccinated and neutered before being put up for adoption.
