There's Still Time For You To Call And Ask Your Lo..

📣There’s still time for you to call and ask your local House representative to support the proposed amendment to the appropriations bill which will provide 3 million USD of funding to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) to help streamline processes for dog imports into the USA in response to the #CDCDogBan

Here’s what you need to do:

1️⃣Call: 202-224-3121 now and ask to be connected to your local House representative. (If you don’t know who that is, give the operator your zip code.)

2️⃣Leave a message or say to the person who answers the phone:

“I am a constituent and my address is xxx. I want to ask Representative xxx to please co-sponsor the Rice-Fitzpatrick-Schrader amendment, #52, of HR 4502. The 3 million amendment to the appropriations bill will help streamline the dog import process and hopefully be the first step towards revising the total ban on importing dogs from 113 countries that includes rescue dogs as well as service dogs.”

Here are more details about the proposed amendment:

H.R. 4502 – [Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, Agriculture, Rural Development, Energy and Water Development, Financial Services and General Government, Interior, Environment, Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Act, 2022]

Amendments: Division A – Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education

Number: 52

Version: 2

Sponsor: Kathleen Rice (NY), Brian Fitzpatrick (Pennsylvania), Kurt Schrader (Oregon)

Party: Bi-Partisan

Summary: Revised – Increases and decreases funding for CDC’s Emerging Zoonotic and Infectious Disease account with the intent of preventing the reintroduction of canine rabies virus variant into the United States and supporting CDC modernizing and fully operating its dog import program.
