Update on Jack:

Jack is having mild fever throughout the day, appetite was good in the morning and afternoon. Decrease of appetite in the evening. As per Dr Lian, it is fairly normal to have mild fever and decrease of appetite immediate after surgery. However, should the condition persist or deteriorste, it will be something alarming especially after long hours of surgery.

For the left forelimb, during the surgery Dr Lian decided to place 2 bone plates side by side in order to minimise chances of plate breakdown. However this does not guarantee of no breakdown due to fracture at radius, ulna, carpal joint and ligament torn. Moving forward, Jack will not allow motion or maintain his left forelimb at a normal angle when he stand or walk.

His weight is around 21 or 22kg and we really hope during the recovery process he gets to use it for intermediate weight bearing and no motion between the paw and the limb to avoid plate breakdown which will then require gor the left forelimb to be amputated.

Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better is a canine welfare programme initiated by non-profit organisation Community Development and Integration Initiative (CDII).

MDDB's main activities revolve around rescuing dogs from the local council pounds as well as off the streets. Once they have been rescued, the dogs are vaccinated and neutered before being put up for adoption.
