Large visible marine debris such as ghost nets, plastic bags and fishing lines causes injuries & suffocation from entanglement to marine wildlife such as sea turtles, fishes & sea birds. While smaller fragments of plastics are commonly found ingested by numerous marine species.

The most effective means to address the issue of marine plastic pollution is to reduce the use of plastic materials particularly the single-use-disposable plastic such as candy wrappers, plastic straws and bags.
