Daran was just trying the best she could to survive on the streets when she became the victim of unimaginable cruelty. Someone slashed her across her back with a knife and left her for dead. The experience would leave a lifelong impression on her.

It was days before a kind man noticed the wound and called Soi Dog for help. By that time, it had become infected and infested with maggots.

Daran was rushed to our hospital where she eventually made a full physical recovery. The emotional scars, however, are still very fresh, and she can be shy and wary of new people. But with patience and gentle encouragement, she will soon warm up and show you that sweet smile of hers.
