Sad news related to our three-legged blind old man Boomer.
1. Boomer has been admitted at Gasing Vet about 2 weeks ago because of persisting wounds on his chin and under the abdomen.
2. The vet did a biopsy of the wounds and Boomer has been diagnosed with cutaneous lymphoma, which, unfortunately, is one of the hardest lymphomas to treat. The cancer is all over Boomer’s skin. It appears as red spots on the neck, chin and near the penis. He is now in clinical stage 2 out of 3.
3. The usual chemotherapy of choice for the cutaneous lymphoma would be Lomustine (or CCNU) but it is not available in veterinary clinics. Even if Boomer is given the CCNU drug, it will only give him maybe an extra few months to a year to live.
4. For time being, the vet is only limited to putting him on steroids and the response rate for steroids are usually 30-40%.
5. Boomer is still admitted at Gasing Vet and is on drips as his appetite is very poor.
