Update on Dodi:

1. Dodi’s one of the front leg is very swollen and deformed till the vet could not see her nails.

2. Dodi will have the wound on the same leg repeatedly and we have brought her to Little Paws multiple times for treatment.

3. Gasing vet did an xray for both of the front legs and noticed one of the leg’s bone is crooked and maybe that’s the reason she keeps on getting the wound on the same leg.

4. The vet also notices there are ‘white-spots’ in the xray for both legs. According to the vet based on their experience, it looks like a gunshot powder residues. They suspect Dodi might have been shot for the bones to be crooked.

5. Since Dodi’s wound is keep on emerging, they give us 2 options:

(i) To amputate the leg with crooked bones. If not, the bones will keep on causing the wound and will lead to infection

(ii) Refer Dodi to Dr. Lian for the bone surgery.

6. Dodi’s full blood test result will be out tomorrow. If we are amputating Dodi’s leg, the vet will schedule the surgery this week.

Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better is a canine welfare programme initiated by non-profit organisation Community Development and Integration Initiative (CDII).

MDDB's main activities revolve around rescuing dogs from the local council pounds as well as off the streets. Once they have been rescued, the dogs are vaccinated and neutered before being put up for adoption.
