Dog In Critical Condition Passes Away (Shirleys)

Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/02/12/urgent-dog-blood-donor-required-shirley-wongs/

The vet just informed me that the dog passed away last night, one hour after the blood results came back. His blood count was 9.1. A normal reading is 44, and any reading below 12 cannot sustain life anymore. The vet said the dog could not have possibly got into this condition overnight. It must have been a gradual deterioration.

The rescuer, Shirley, called me last Saturday (4th Feb) to seek assistance and I had already told her we would subsidise and to please take the dog to the vet as soon as possible. Nothing was done until yesterday (12th Feb). It was too late to save the poor dog. I even told her to rush to emergency on 11th Feb night when she called, but this was not done.

May the dog be in a better existence now.

We urge all rescuers to PLEASE not delay medical treatment if rescuing is what they wish to do. It is almost unfair that an injured animal is taken off the streets, but nothing is done for it. The animal would be totally at our mercy, and if we do not have the urgency to do the needful for the animal, why take it off the streets in the first place? Why deprive it from being rescued by another rescuer who has the resources to do more for it?

I am so sad, because this is such a wasted cause.
