SPCA RESCUES: 4 DAY RESCUE MISSION—CAT IN EXHAUST HOOD

#SPCASingapore was first notified on 4 June that a cat was stuck in an exhaust hood. Over four days, our Animal Rescue Officers had to come up with rescue plans to counter the lack of access, equipment, and the cat’s wariness of humans.

Multiple attempts were made possible with the help of our community! Samaritans from a nearby construction site kindly offered our officer a forklift to reach the exhaust, unfortunately the vent was too narrow for a person. Restaurant staff then proceeded to cut a hole in their exhaust hood. As the cat was too skittish to be handled directly, our officer managed to guide the cat towards the exit. This created an opportunity for the use of traps. Food and water were used to lure the cat, as it was said to have been stuck for a number of days.

By noon of 7 June, the cat was finally caught in a trap! The little trooper was kindly taken to a vet by the community caregiver who worked with us through the ordeal.

Our emergency rescue service operates 24/7, 365 days a year. Our officers often face challenging situations in the course of saving an animal’s life. Help us help them by sponsoring a rescue here: http://bit.ly/appeal2021 💙
