UPDATE ON JACK. HID FRACTURED FACE HAS BEEN REPAIRED.
Jack’s first skull reconstructive surgery was on 6th June for 13 hours and 30 minutes. He recovered from anesthesia on 7th June at 1.54am and immediately undewent a second blood transfusion as his PCV dropped to below 20%.
During the surgery:
1. Extensive soft tissue tear with pockets of heavy contamination
2. The teeth on the front portion of the broken jaw were mostly nonviable
3. Both nasal passage were occluded with blood clot and vicious purulent discharge
4. 1st blood transfusion performed as ongoing blood loss during wound and bone repair
According Dr Lian, he is currently having mild fever, PCV increased to 30%, liver reading slight elevated, kidney reading normal, quite extensive discharge/saliva from the mouth, mild nose bleeding and post op swelling.
PLANS FOR JACK ONCE HIS CONDITION REACHES OPTIMAL LEVELS FOR THE NEXT SURGERY.
1. Close monitoring of any wound breakdown as contamination is severe
2. Esophageal tube feeding for now to decrease oral wound contamination and bone reduction stability
3. Supportive care including fluid therapy injection and wound management including for bilateral forelimbs
4. Antibiotics nebulizer treatment as the lung may be infected due to severe pockets of contamination
Dr Lian says he is such a strong boy and eats 1.5 tins of can food per feeding. He is being fed Royal Canin Recovery can food.
