Recently A Young Man Rescued A Badly Injured Dog A..

Recently a young man rescued a badly injured dog and brought it to Gasing Veterinary Hospital. Realising the gravity of the injuries, the hospital gave him our number and he called asking if we could take over. Given that Gasing does not do orthopedic surgeries – we had to arrange for the doggo named Jack to be transferred to Lian Veterinary Clinic for the surgeries. After accesing Jack, Dr Lian told us if anyone else had brought him in, she would have told them to put him down because of the gravity of his injuries. However, knowing our stand, she has drawn-up a surgical plan. She also warned us the multiple surgeries were major and Jack may not make it. But visiting and observing Jack, we saw that he was a very determined dog. In spite of his two broken and bandaged legs, he tried to get up and walk. Jack’s jaw is also badly shattered and Dr Lian believes the impact of the accident was horrfying.
Update on Jack from Dr Lian:
1) Upper & lower jaw:
Jack is having very severe fracture on upper & lower jaw and nasal cavity with extensive soft tissue injuries. The whole parts are terribly smashed. The impact of the accident is unimaginable to the extent the upper palate can fall out.
Jack will undergo reconstruction of the structure and if can be fixed, the surgery will be done latest this Saturday or Sunday. The worst case scenario is to cut off the upper & lower jaw. There are risks involved as he may collapse during surgery or during the recovery process.
2) Forelimbs :
a) Right limb – very badly infected wound with 2 bones sticking out.
b) Left limb – having bad infection too.
c) Tentatively, Dr Lian will stabilize both fore limbs with a splint. If the infected wounds get worse and to avoid the infection from spreading, the option is amputation.
The quotation for his surgeries, treatment, medicines and several months of rehabilitation comes up to a frightening RM31,000. The rescuer had raised RM9,000 of which RM2,000 has been paid to Gasing and RM7,000 to Lian. And hence a balance of RM24,000 is required to proceed at Lian Clinic. Please let us know of Jack should be given a chance or he should be put down. If you feel he deserves a chance, please pay Lian clinic directly and post the transfer slip here, private message it or WhatsApp it to 0122501497. Thanking you in anticipation and herewith the details.
