The Jewel of Kedah Moots the Eco-Schools programme (ESP), which is a programme introduced by WWF-Malaysia as a National Operator, owned by Foundation for Environmental Education based in Denmark.
Following the successful statewide introduction of the ESP in Melaka, the Green Growth Asia Foundation (GGAF) extended the programme in Langkawi. The programme aims to develop environmental leadership among students and teachers using whole-school-approach to solve issues at the schools and surrounding areas. It also helps them understand their relationship with the natural world.
The launch event, co-organised by The Datai Langkawi on 4 April, involves partners, namely WWF-Malaysia, the Kedah State Education Department, Sime Darby Foundation, participating schools’ principals, and teachers.
The ESP in Langkawi will see ten schools served under the patronage of Yayasan Sime Darby and two schools in collaboration with The Datai Langkawi.
