Mr Low has collected the dogfood we bought and he says a big thank you to AnimalCare’s donors.
Here’s a photo of the 20-odd dogs that he feeds in North Port. These dogs are dumped on this piece of land and if Mr Low doesn’t feed them, the puppies would probably die of starvation as there is no vegetation on the land. The adults might migrate elsewhere and contribute further to the stray problem.
Winnie, Mr Low’s daughter is helping him organise spay-neuter for some of the “catch-able” dogs. We will provide a subsidy, as usual.
These puppies look alright, but Winnie says her dad has had to endure many heartaches when some of the puppies and dogs are injured or killed by vehicles that come into the area.
Spay-neuter would be the best solution to address this problem, on a long term.
As of last year, besides our Medical Fund, we launched a Food Fund and also a Disaster Relief Fund so that when there is the need to donate petfood to needy caregivers, we can do so without having to do a separate fund-raising (which is time-consuming) as we used to previously. Also, should there be any calamity such as floods and earthquakes, and there are animal organisations that need urgent fund for rescue work, we can donate straight away.
The portion of the Sunsuper Prize money which we are going to share with the 10 organisations, is also going into our Food Fund as we will be donating food to their animals. Still waiting for the organisers to transfer to money over. Meanwhile, all 10 organisation have informed me of their preference of (1) dogfood only (2) catfood only OR (3) dog and catfood. We’ll be arranging the purchase as soon as the money comes in.
