Celebrating The 'Underdogs', The Misunderstood And..

Celebrating the ‘underdogs’, the misunderstood and the forgotten cats in rescue shelters. The FIV cats. #FelineFurrytailFriday with FIV fighter Zatono.

He was only a few weeks old, when their mother was tragically killed by a dog. He needed shelter and refuge, which he found at Soi Dog Foundation.

Even though he was a handsome and bright-eyed boy, Zatono came with something that would make his life even more difficult when it came to securing that forever home he was meant to be in. He was positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV).😿

Even though Zatono is one cat that made sure everyone who ever met him, would never forget him, he was never chosen to be the one that goes home because of the disease he was carrying. A disease that is not death sentence, but only weakens their immune system. A disease that puts off many from adopting cats like him. Cats who are gregarious, gorgeous and just purrfect in every other way.

Just as we thought, he might never find that home, Zatono’s persistence to charm people paid off, because someone he met over a year ago, reached out to us and decided to give him that purrfect home we thought he will never ever see all the way in the USA. 🇺🇸

“Adopting him was such an easy choice! I visited Soi Dog back in the summer of 2018. My friends and I were leaving, and on our way out I stopped at the outdoor area with the cats and Zatono came to the fence. He was so adorable, it was hard to say goodbye. I had a cat at the time so I had no intentions of adopting another one. Then in November 2019 I had to put my cat down unexpectedly. I moved to Seattle in January 2020 and was looking to get another cat. I looked on Soi Dog’s website and saw a cat that looked quite familiar, and the rest of the story goes just as you’d think. It was him! I was so surprised he was still there.” Lauren, Zatono’s adopter.

Zatono’s reunion with his adopter Lauren was one we had wished for him for over 3 years and we were all so excited to see it become a reality.

Because of cats like Zatono we are more certain than ever, that FIV positive cats are Pawsitively Adoptable. Don’t you?
