We Are Celebrating Those 'Forgotten' Cats In Shelt..

We are celebrating those ‘forgotten’ cats in shelters. The FIV+ cats.

#fivawarenessmonth

Huajai was a victim of a car accident. This pretty Thai kitty, injured one of her back legs due to the accident and our vets had to make the tough decision to amputate her leg. We also found out that she is positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus).

This was a grave turn of events for Huajai, but unlike most other cats who never even get the chance to show their potential, Huajai found a couple who met her an fell in love with her instantly back in 2017.

‘we visited Soi Dog and we had no plans to adopt anyone, but when we saw Huajai, we knew we wanted to take her home with us”

Even when they heard later she has FIV, they made the decision to adopt this gorgeous lady knowing full well she will need more TLC than a non-FIV cat. A few months later the adoption was finalised and Huajai left to her new home in Finland. 🇫🇮

Since then she needed visits to the vets, as expected from a FIV positive cat, but Huajai is loved unconditionally and is spoilt rotten by her family and is otherwise leading a happy life.😽

Jenni her adopter wrote to us and said, ‘She’s lying in my lap ang giving me kisses as I’m writing this. It’s part of her morning routine when I have my coffee in the morning 😍’

Huajai, was one of the few lucky cats to have found homes even though she was positive for FIV.

A lot of other cats like her are not that lucky. Most shelters around the world will not even be able to offer them a second chance.

At Soi Dog, we ensure that FIV positive cats who cannot survive on the streets are given the best life possible and if they are healthy enough to be adopted, include them in our adoption programme.

If you cannot adopt, remember there are many other ways you can help cats like the FIV cat clowder at Soi Dog.
