Mary and I set off from my house at 8.30am this morning. We had already loaded all our stuff into her car the day before so we were all ready. Terry, our navigator, came by and off we went, with Terry leading the way on his motorbike!
Here we are…the Kota Damansara Community Forest.
Wow! Never knew there was such a beautiful place here for mountain bikers and hikers!
Soon, Chooi Chooi and her Casa team arrived.
Still misty…how lovely.
That’s Terry, speaking with Richard, whom I heard is a dog trainer. Mary is busy unloading things with me.
Yen Ling arrived wearing our tshirt (yay!) with Jack, her rescued Jack Russell.
They are taking part in today’s doggie run.
Here are our mouth-watering butter cookies and the Misai Kucing drink.
Bernice and hubby, Donovan, arrived….in their mountain bikes! Oh wow…that’s hip! They had traveled 10km on their bikes to come help us today.
Winnie arrived too and our team is complete.
Longtime helper, Mary and me.
The dogs and their humans soon began coming in.
Hello there, and where are you from?
Guess who these are?
You see the brown and white Husky? That is Fifi! Remember her? She was going to be thrown out by her owner and Ah Yoke alerted me? Long story cut short, Lee took custody of Fifi and Adeline (in pink) adopted her. Today, I got to meet Fifi, Adeline and Lee as well!
Yes, this is Fifi!! At last, we meet. She has put on weight and is now so beautiful.
This is Adeline, Fifi’s new and forever Mom!
Participants’ registration.
Rescuer Koo came by with a dog he got adopted but is now babysitting because the family is on holiday.
Butter cookies and Misai Kucing.
The carrot-walnut cake with its whipped cream.
Yum, yum….we were only given two pieces and both got bought up!
Adeline with Fifi and her very protective younger brother, Sky.
Adeline says Sky protects Fifi.
This is Fifi’s guardian angel, Lee. She is also known as Yuli.
Sky protects Fifi and never leaves her out of his sight.
The Doggie Run started at 11.00pm.
After the run, there were the games.
Richard coordinated the games.
After the games ended, I was invited to tell the crowd a bit about AnimalCare. But I thought it would be more appropriate to tell them about Meiji, since today’s event was organised for the purpose to fund-raising for her dogs. I was given 3-4 mins to tell them about Meiji. How do you squeeze 14 years of all the remarkable and hardwork Meiji has done into 3-4 mins? I told the crowd the highlights of what makes Meiji so worthy of help and how well she looks after her dogs.
The prizes!
Arthur, the winner of the Doggie Run.
A few of the winners (Sharon, Yuli, Yen Ling and Geraldine) donated their prizes to Meiji since we all know Meiji’s dogs need it more. That is so very kind and generous of them – thank you very much!
The event ended past 1pm. We packed up and thanked Casa for a fun-filled event. Although the crowd was small (due to the long weekend), but remember, “Small is beautiful”! Small in numbers, perhaps, but everyone who came did so with a big heart – to help Meiji. That’s what makes it so beautiful.
Thank you, everyone, for coming and participating in today’s event.
From our side, we raised RM588 for Meiji today, and we will purchase dogfood for her soon (together with the Sunsuper prize in about 2-3 weeks’ time).
