Basirah has informed me that she has decided not to go ahead with the diaphragmatic hernia surgery for the kitten as the prognosis is not very good.
From Basirah:
Did talk to vet abt the xray and the situation of the kitten. According to him, the kitten has 50-50 chance if we opt for surgery. It is high risk and might cause complications. If theres complication, might need to put her to sleep he really helped to understand the situation better and advised on the options available. With this current news, I feel I will not be proceeding wt the surgery option. Although it breaks my heart, I will be giving her up to my cat lover friend and they will proceed wt the necessary arrangements. It is a very difficult decision as I really do not want the kitten to be in pain and suffering and am not able to decide the best option for her. For a stray cat, she is so friendly and loving and has such wonderful personality even wt the problems.

We’ve told Basirah that we will subsidise the surgery should she decided to go ahead with it because we’ve had 3 successful cases under this vet. But we will of course respect her decision as she is the rescuer. Each case is also different and the rescuer’s frame of mind is very important and does bear a significance on the animal’s chances of recovery (the unseen effect).
Basirah will still be submitting the receipts for all the consultation, X-Rays, etc. done, so we will subsidise that.
We wish the kitten good health and all the best.
