Lost Miniature Pinscher In SS18/5 Is It Your Dog?
The guards in my area alerted me to a lost miniature pinscher found wandering on Jalan SS18/5. According to them, the poor dog was running up and down the road, and appeared to be lost.
They caught it and put it into a big box, but they cannot foster the dog as it is against their regulations to keep an animal in their guardhouse. They did not want to let the dog go again for fear that being so small, it would be hit by a moving vehicle.
When we saw the dog, it was trembling in fear, but it appears to be quite confident and has a broken red collar dangling around its neck.
Currently, we have brought the dog home so that it would be safe. The dog is fierce; even bit my husband on the finger (tetanus jab needed!). We cannot catch it again because it is too scared right now. So, we’re letting it roam freely in our living room. It went upstairs!
My cats are a little freaked out so I cannot keep it for too long.
Would appreciate very much if you could please send this link to friends in SS18/5 area in case they have lost their dog. It is definitely someone’s pet.
I don’t know the dog’s gender as we cannot catch it yet. But it is quite tiny and looks like a puppy (it’s smaller than all my cats!)
I gave it home-cooked food, but it wasn’t interested. So I offered some Orijen dog kibbles and it gobbled it up. When I left it alone, it ate up the home-cooked food as well!
Here are some photos:
In the big box at the guardhouse.
Refused the home-cooked food.
The red collar is totally broken, literally hanging by a thread.
It looks healthy. A visit to the vet’s is not possible as it is a bit too late now.
Kibbles, yes!
(Went straight for it. Must have been fed on kibbles before, no animal in nature would eat kibbles, only house-trained animals)
I hope I can catch it and put it into a cage later as my cats are all freaked out right now.
Please help me look for its owner.
The owner can contact me at chankahyein@gmail.com.
Thank you.
UPDATES at 9.00pm
We let the dog be for about an hour and found it on Jia-Wen’s bed upstairs, looking very comfortable! Definitely someone’s pet.
It’s very snappy, which is understandable as it must be really scared and it doesn’t trust us.
I took sometime to try to catch it. The towel trick failed because it’s just so smart.
Finally, I made a lasso with a drawstring and slowly (and very patiently) slid the lasso over her neck, something I’ve watched my vet do several times with the fiercest of large dogs. But here, I’m just dealing with a tiny but very snappy little doggie!
Phew…lasso done. That’s an achievement.
We finally managed to force her into the cage. Had to drag her downstairs because she wouldn’t allow herself to be caught. Funny, at the guardhouse, I just carried her and she allowed it. Smart doggie! She knows she is safe now so she can dictate her terms!
The poor little thing looks rather sad. She definitely does not like being caged at all. In fact, she put up a big struggle when we forced her in. And yes, she is female. A real cili padi of sorts.
Tried to pacify her with kibbles, since she seems to like it so much.
Yups, she definitely likes it.
And she can certainly eat!
That’s my hand, so that you have an idea just how small she is.
Home-cooked food – polished clean.
So, this much we know – she is female, is probably a lost or escaped pet. From her collar, it looks like it’s been bitten off. Maybe she bit it off and escaped from her house.
I cannot estimate her age. But she certainly has very sharp teeth!
Will the owner please contact me soon?
Thank you.
