From Jessy:

Dr.Chan, I’m sorry to inform you this sad news now. I have postpone the news until now, cos that time was almost new year’s eve & I thought that is not a news to start a new year.
Since today is my birthday, I would like to make a small donation of RM50, in loving memory of Pretty Mama. I will bank-in the money tomorrow & will sms you.
Pretty Mama’s new owner informed me that Pretty Mama had difficulty in breathing & was admitted to the vet on 23 Dec night. I went to visit her the next day. She was alert, sitting up & breathing heavily. I didn’t get to talk to the doctor as he was extremely busy. I went to visit her again on Christmas day before the clinic close for half day & I finally get to talk to the doctor about Pretty Mama’s condition. According to doctor, Pretty Mama was suffering from severe congestion in the chest, which was pleural effusion from radiography. The X-ray results show there are fluids in her lung. Doctor extracted the fluids for testing, and the result shows there are protein in the fluids but found no presence of bacteria. Doctor highly (95%) suspect Pretty Mama was suffering fromFeline Infectious Peritonitis(FIP)infection — a fatal incurable disease! Doctor prescribed antibiotic & said that Pretty Mama can be discharge. He reminded me that even though Pretty Mama was still eating on her own, but there are possibility that she might just collapsed and die.
Pretty Mama was bought home on 26 Dec & according to the owner, Pretty Mama still has appetite, but sleep most of the time. Unfortunately, Pretty Mama pass away on 29 Dec in her owner’s arm. This was a sad news to me as I was looking forward to see Pretty Mama spending the rest of her life in her loving home & with MoMo as her playmate. But nevertheless, I’m glad that she can spend 35 days in a loving house that she called – Home & a kind lady that she called – Owner.
Regards,
Jessy Lian

(27th November, in her new home)

Our message to Jessy:

Dear Jessy,

So sorry to hear this sad news, but as we all know, having done this long enough, these kind of things happen.

Be comforted that PrettyMama had a good and loving home and she did not have to suffer too much. FIP is incurable. Even RetroMAD1 cannot help. It is a deadly disease that afflicts street cats. When we encounter an FIP case, we can only make the cat as comfortable as possible and pray it will not suffer.

Pretty Mama is in a better place now, because of the love and care she has received in those 35 days. Bless you and her owners for giving her this privilege which many other street cats may never have.

Take care, and thank you for the donation.

Keep up your good work in rescuing street animals, taking care of them and finding them homes. May the merits of your good deed accrue to the happiness of Pretty Mama, wherever she is now.

Kind regards,
kahyein

P.S. We have no pantang about bad news during CNY. Any day is a good or bad day, it’s how we make it so. That “life is uncertain and death is uncertain” rings true on any day, CNY or not. This is an imperfect world and we accept it as such./blockquote>
