Just this year, we’ve released more than 500 head-started river terrapins into the Kemaman River!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Our release event did not materialise in 2019 due to miscommunication with the Personal Assistant of the Terengganu Menteri Besar. Hence, early this year, we planned a release event in March, scheduled for 21st March, which by now we all now, did not happen. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

As soon as we entered the recovery phase of the Movement Control Order, we resumed discussions and set a date for our release, which was 15th August. We successfully released 300 terrapins on that day, and the YB Exco also pledged RM10,000 to TCS to support our terrapin conservation efforts!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Turtle Conservation Society

The Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia was established in October 2011. The aim of the society is to bring about the recovery of depleted wild populations of turtles, with particular reference to freshwater turtles, in Malaysia through partnerships with like-minded organizations, individuals and local communities as well as through its own programs.
