Bung Jagoi is a small mountain – just under 400m above sea level. It is about an hour’s drive from Kuching City and a popular hiking site among locals and tourists alike during the weekends. In the past 10 years, villagers residing by the foothills of Mount Jagoi have been actively working to conserve the unique biodiversity and preserve their local customs and beliefs.

Recently, the Jagoi Area Development Committee (JADC) has applied for Jagoi Heritage Forest to be included in the IUCN Green List of Protected and Conserved Areas. The success of this application would recognize the efforts of the Bung Jagoi community as stewards of the forest. Simple actions can go a long way in keeping Jagoi Forest Heritage healthy for all.
