Sofie is a sweet and friendly street dog who was just trying to get by in life. She used to have someone to feed her and to keep an eye on her. But then, that person up and left. She probably wandered into a new and unfamiliar area to find food. And then, something terrible happened, and she was left with a horrifying and life-threatening injury.

By the time we were alerted to Sofie, she had clearly been suffering for some time. There was so much sadness in her gentle eyes. On top of her grisly neck wound which was septic, she also had a dislocated hip, severe anaemia and blood parasites. Without urgent medical treatment, she would have died from sepsis – a slow and painful way to go.

Thankfully, and only because of amazing people like YOU – Sofie is recovering astonishingly well. 🤗 Just look at this adorable and fluffy girl now! Her shocking neck wound has healed, her hip is so much better, and her anaemia has dramatically improved too. Even after the terrible cruelty she has been through, stunning Sofie is opening up well to new people and simply loves her walks and runs around the shelter. This charismatic girl really is something special. 🐶🥰

Because so many people have left Phuket and indeed Thailand since the crisis began, countless street animals, as well as pets, are facing dangerous and unfamiliar situations.
