This is Mimosa pudica, known among locals as Pokok Semalu. This plant has a beautiful spherical hairy shape pale pink or purple flower, thorny stems with an unusual reaction on their leaves once it is touched.

The plant grows in most well-drained soils with low concentrations of nutrients. This sensitive plant is shade intolerant and does not compete with tall vegetation or grow under forest canopies.

I did not pay much attention to this plant before but since I participated in #ExploreBiodiversityESD campaign, I learned that this plant has tremendous functions.
