📣 SOI DOG NEWS UPDATE: A special visit from the Prime Minister’s Office!

Soi Dog was pleased to welcome the Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, Theerapat Prayurasiddhi, to the shelter earlier this month. Read the full article here: https://www.thephuketnews.com/prime-minister-permanent-secretary-visits-soi-dog-foundation-shelter-77893.php

Mr. Theerapat was given a special tour of the visitor and volunteer area, puppy run, cattery, dog hospital and off-lead areas, and was keen to discuss sustainable solutions for managing the street dog and cat populations across the country. Aside from his primary role, Mr. Theerapat also serves on a ‘Disease-free Animals, Save Human from Rabies’ project working group. He therefore recognises the importance of Soi Dog’s large-scale vaccination and sterilisation programme in eradicating rabies in Thailand.

“Stray animals are part of our communities, and everyone should ensure that the dogs and cats in their neighbourhoods are vaccinated and sterilised,” said Mr. Theerapat. “Keeping these animals healthy will keep our people healthy too.”

Soi Dog has worked with the Thai government on a number of animal welfare issues in the past, including abolishing the country’s dog and cat meat trade and responding to natural disasters. We hope that the Permanent Secretary’s visit is a sign of a continuation of this collaboration. Click here to learn more about our programmes: https://links.soidog.org/Soi-Dog-Programmes
