Soi Dog News Update Local Municipality Welcomes So..

📣 SOI DOG NEWS UPDATE: Local municipality welcomes Soi Dog mobile clinic!

Soi Dog’s mobile clinic team began a ten-day sterilisation and vaccination project last week in Kathu – a municipality in Phuket where we are based – in collaboration with the local Division of Public Health and Environment.

At the opening ceremony, the Mayor of Kathu emphasised the urgent need to spay and neuter pets and strays in order to sustainably control the population of homeless animals in Thailand. Under the project ‘Dogs and Cats Population Control in Kathu Municipality Area’, our team aim to neuter and vaccinate 300 dogs and cats between October 26-November 6. Sterilisation and vaccination services are being offered free of charge under the project, thereby supporting pet owners and stray animal ‘feeders’. With pet abandonment on the rise this year as a knock-on effect of the pandemic, local authorities in Phuket are finding ways to help reduce costs for pet owners and stray animal carers in order to prevent further abandonment.

Although we collaborate with local authorities in this way – and value that collaboration – we receive no government funding for our spay and neuter programme. It is really thanks to YOU that we have been able to neuter and vaccinate over 484,000 animals to this date 💪🎉.

Please continue to support our spay and neuter programme and help us reach half-a-million neutered and vaccinated animals before the end of 2020: https://links.soidog.org/make-a-difference

These animals deserve a life free from pain and suffering. Thank you!
