Cnvr For The Welfare Of Thailands Stray Dogs And C..

CNVR for the welfare of Thailand’s stray dogs and cats!

As we continue to highlight #AnimalWelfareMonth, one important issue to address is Thailand’s mass population of stray animals. To give an idea of the scale of this population, in Bangkok there are hundreds of thousands of free-roaming dogs, potentially up to 600,000. In 2003, the island of Phuket alone had an estimated 70,000 homeless dogs 😱.

Soi Dog Foundation’s Catch I Neuter I Vaccinate I Return (CNVR) programme was set up to help reduce the suffering and improve the welfare of these animals by humanely reducing their population. With the help of CNVR, the number of stray dogs in Phuket has been reduced from over 70,000 to an estimated 6,000-7,000 today. We’ve seen the stray dog population reduced by over 90%, and this has been a significant contributory factor in the island reporting just one confirmed case of rabies (dog) in 25 years 👏. CNVR is not only an internationally recognised leading practice, it’s also the most humane, safe and effective way of addressing the stray dog problem and minimising the spread of life-threatening diseases like rabies.

With the population in Phuket under control, and with the amazing support of Dogs Trust Worldwide, Soi Dog began neutering and vaccinating dogs in Bangkok in 2015. We currently have eight mobile clinics operating in ten provinces across Thailand. Learn more about Soi Dog’s mobile clinics here: https://facebook.com/SoiDogPageInEnglish/videos/2530483627167582/

Thanks to our kind and compassionate donors, we are able to neuter and vaccinate over 10,000 dogs and cats per month and have reached a total of 473,650 street dogs and cats neutered and vaccinated since 2003! You have helped to achieve this over the last 17 years. Will you help us reach a total of half-a-million animals by the end of 2020? https://links.soidog.org/help-SoiDog-CNVR-project
