In Support Of Animalpainawarenessmonth, Soi Dogs P..

In support of #animalpainawarenessmonth, Soi Dog’s physiotherapy team, Mali and Anya, talk about the importance of physiotherapy for the rehabilitation and pain management of dogs and cats suffering from different degrees of injury.

The most common conditions treated here at Soi Dog using physiotherapy include paralysis, hip dysplasia, neurological impairment, spinal injury, orthopedic conditions, weight management and postoperative care. Have a read of ‘Paws in motion: Inside the team that keeps Soi Dog moving’ on page 20 of our June newsletter for more information. https://links.soidog.org/physio-newsletter-article

Animals are sentient beings and are capable of feeling pain. It’s important for owners to be able to read the common signs of pain for their dogs’ and cats’ overall wellbeing. Limping or whimpering may be obvious signs; however, there are far less obvious ways in which you can tell whether your pet is experiencing pain, and being aware of these can ensure you seek help as soon as possible and prevent them from suffering in silence.

Here are a of couple questions to consider: Does my pet have difficulty standing up after lying or sitting down? Is my pet stiff or limping after exercise? Does my pet have difficulty going up and down stairs? When does self-grooming become too excessive? Does my pet seem less active than usual? Is it normal for my pet to lose their appetite from time to time?

Please remember to be on the lookout for abnormal behaviours and contact a veterinarian if you think your pet might be in pain. Tell us about your experiences! Comment below. ⬇
