Guess who did a bit of travelling in the past few weeks?

This river terrapin was hatched in 2019. It was raised by Pakcik Wazel in Kg. Pasir Gajah, and was recently released during our terrapin release event on 15th August 2020.

On 5th September, it was caught by Mr. Soon, a local Kemaman resident in Kg. Pengkalan Pandan, Chukai. This feisty little one travelled approximately 25 km downstream in 3 weeks! How remarkable!

This shows the importance of microchipping the terrapins. The microchips allow for individual identification, which then allows us to map the movement of the terrapins in the river
