Please adopt from pounds, shelters, and rescuers. If you buy from pet stores and breeders, you are complicit in the abuse and exploitation of animals such as the mama dog in this comic strip.



I drew this comic because recently a member of my extended family bought a puppy. I am still very upset about this. My sister tried to stop them and convince them to choose adoption instead. They know the problem with “puppy mills”, they even WITNESSED the abused poor mother in bad shape and they still decided to buy a puppy there. (The last panel is based on a real photo which was taken by them in 張記狗場 in Hong Kong. You can see the footage in the comment.)

We have too many homeless animals desperately needing a home, otherwise they are left to die. Stray animals are a huge problem in many places and live tough lives.⠀

I’m glad that recently New York senate passed a bill to end retail pet sales. Always find a companion animal through a shelter or rescue group! 🐶
