One Of The Biggest Threats To Orangutan Survival I..
Tweet | ![]() |
One of the biggest threats to orangutan survival is the increasing loss of habitat. As more and more areas of previously intact forest are earmarked and converted into agricultural land, more and more orangutans lose their home and lifeline.
.
Today, many orangutan populations exist in degraded and fragmented forests. Some populations live completely isolated from larger populations and are on the verge of disappearing due to a lack of food, shelter and space.
.
There is an urgent need to address this disconnect through wildlife corridors. Corridors will allow for isolated populations to be connected to larger forest blocks, giving them access to more food and shelter.
.
The clock is ticking for the orangutans!
