CASE UPDATE: APPEAL FOR INFORMATION ON USE OF DARTS ON BIRDS AT JURONG WEST
On 1st March 2020, ACRES appealed for information (insert link https://www.facebook.com/ACRESasia/posts/appeal-for-information-on-use-of-darts-on-birds-at-jurong-west-on-28th-february-/10157487088966523/ ) on rock pigeons found with darts on their bodies.
We identified the darts to be blow gun darts (of about 10 cm in length) and we suspect that some individual/s has access to a blow pipe or a dart gun in this location or the surrounding area and has used it on these birds. Unfortunately the rescued pigeon did not survive.
A case was filed with the Singapore Police Force and NParks for investigations. NParks has updated on 3rd August 2020 that they have explored all available leads but unfortunately there was insufficient evidence to establish the identity of the person who has been darting the pigeons. Hence the investigations will only resume should there be fresh leads available.
ACRES has received two more calls over this past week for pigeons found with darts again within the same location 864 Jurong West Street 81, where the darted pigeons were sighted previously. This also means that this act of cruelty and violence is still ongoing.
We strongly urge members of the public to keep a lookout and please contact us at acrescrime@gmail.com should you have any leads on this case.
