From Phuket To Portugal. We Are Dedicating The Mon..

From Phuket to Portugal.

We are dedicating the month of August to the black cats who somehow get overlooked amongst their more colourful peers when it comes to finding #foreverhomes.

Also, meet a few of our special black cats who have travel donations made by a generous donor here: https://links.soidog.org/adopt-a-black-cat-like-alexandar

On this #ThrowbackThursday we are looking back at memories of a few such cats who found it hard to find homes but, since being adopted have shown to be the most fantastic companions their adopters have met.🖤

Alexander (now Xander) was the last to find a home, but not before he spent 9️⃣7️⃣4️⃣ days at Soi Dog Foundation’s shelter.

Here are a few updates his adopted family shared over the months he’s been with them.

*June 2019* – A couple of weeks after he had arrived at his new home.

“There was a bit of hissing when Xander and Henry my other cat, first saw each other but now nothing.

Oliver, my older black cat, is still not too keen… still hisses at Alexander still (I think A is a bit too boisterous for my old gentleman!) but Alexander seems to know not to bother him and I am sure the hissing will stop soon. Xander has already been outside (under supervision) and loved it… playing hide and seek with Henry in the long grass. He is still a bit uncertain about my dog Rascal. However, Rascal is being very good and when Xander hisses at him he does nothing… just looks a bit confused as to why a cat would be hissing at him!”

October 2019:

“He is very much enjoying his life… running around like a mad thing, up and down the trees and playing chase with Henry. He also likes to go hunting and is usually followed by Rascal who tries to help but doesn’t seem to understand cat ‘stealth’ hunting technique… much to Xanders annoyance!”

August 2020:

“Xander is very much settled in and now has a new friend; a little black female [street] cat who I adopted.”

He now gets along with pretty much all of the family members as you can see from the pictures.

Alexander is a fine example of a perfectly fine cat who was lost in the shadow of his friends, even though he was always a social butterfly with lot of love to share.

Please help bring joy to more black cats this month of August by encouraging black cat adoptions. Share their story by tagging #BlackCatsPurrever

P.S: A few of our black cats at Soi Dog also have flight donations towards them. Enquire before the end of August to be eligible.: https://links.soidog.org/adopt-a-black-cat-like-alexandar
