WORLD ELEPHANT DAY!

While many of us feel strongly about protecting elephants, here is one bitter truth about elephants who are often taken away from the wild for entertainment purposes.

Phajaan – a ritual to break a wild-caught elephant’s spirit through physical abuse, starvation and forced containment to prepare him or her to be trained to carry humans on a ride, or perform unnatural tricks or be paraded for entertainment.

Is there something you can do? Yes, it is simple – Say no to riding elephants or watching them perform unnatural tricks!

Alternative? If you’d like to see them up close, appreciate them from a distance in their wild habitats or support sanctuaries where rescued elephants live a free life.
