Liew wrote to me sometime last month, asking advice on what to do with some stray cats in his office area. We got talking about trapping, spaying-neutering and Liew was going to borrow one of our traps.
He finally decided he’d purchase one and I referred him to our supplier.
With that trap, Liew managed to catch the entire family! He’s now thinking of becoming a longer-term rescuer, and doing it in his housing estate as well.
Isn’t that great?
The key to helping animals is education by example. Alone, we can do so little, together we can do much more. Reaching out is one of our three missions, and reaching out is the only way we will be able to nurture a bigger community of rescuers and caregivers.
Ultimately, the key to a better future for our animal friends is education. Liew is now on his own, spurred on by what he has learnt and the tools that he has. He can also come to us for advice and help, but the important thing is that his heart is there and he does the work. Kudos to you, Liew. Every animal saved translates to thousands helped.
Here’s updates from Liew:
Dear Dr. Chan,
Hi. It’s been long time since i updated you about my rescue. I actually only just move one girlie back home to stay with her mommy because the other orange girl has just been adopted by an iranian couple staying near by. They seems like nice people & own a male ginger that’s why they wanted a girl to make a pair. Now my white girl has gone home but she got difficult time to get back close together with her mom. Mainly her mom has gone less familiar with them & she hates it when the girl want to have milk from her & mommy has no more to give. It wasn’t too bad it only take a day to get them back together & they r now sleeping under my chair now while i’m typing this.
I was also glad to see that the girl started to accept my existence & would let me touch her once a while. Then i realized she been in too much stress staying in the small cage when they were in my office. But i’m still putting her up for adoption for couple more weeks if there’s no foster then i’ll keep her on my own. Mommy got her first vaccin in See Vet in Sri Petaling & she still have problem adjusting to the food i’m giving her so vet suggest me to change brand. I hope it’ll work.
Oncoming chinese new year i’ll put them to boarding. I’m still deciding where to go. I hope it’ll work well too.
Wish you all the best too.
Oh ya, Happy Chinese New Year.
Regards,
Liew
