Senior Soi Dog Still Gets The Zoomies. Here At Soi..

Senior soi dog still gets the zoomies!

Here at Soi Dog, we always celebrate when a dog gets adopted, especially an older dog like Gordon. Senior dogs are often overlooked, but those who decide to adopt one find them to be great companions.

This gorgeous golden oldie was rescued from a government shelter in Nakhon Phanom in northeastern Thailand last year. We can only imagine how he suffered there without proper medical care, daily exercise or human socialisation. Fortunately, he was brought to the Soi Dog shelter and, within a few months of arriving at Soi Dog, was chosen by one of our partner rescues, Senior Dog Sanctuary of Maryland in the USA.

We are so grateful to our partner rescue for giving Gordon the chance to travel across the world to find his forever family. And that he did! Here’s a lovely update from Gordon’s adopter:

“Gordon has come a long way and is loving domestic life. He enjoys taking walks, getting the zoomies in the back yard and burying toys and treats in our flower beds. But he spends most of the day curled up on the couch sleeping or snuggling with me while I work from home. He has slept in the bed with me every night since I brought him home and is notorious for taking up most of the bed! He twitches and whimpers a lot when he sleeps (and has even howled a few times!), which makes me wonder if he is dreaming about his former life in Thailand.

He has adapted to home life very well – he is well potty trained, is not destructive, and is very patient and loving with my 7-year daughter. He prefers the company of people over other dogs – he is very loving and greets every person he meets and is quite popular among my neighbors. He has gained a few pounds and looks really healthy. His coat is even shinier. All proof of how spoiled and loved he is!

Gordon has been the perfect addition to our family and I tell him every day how lucky we are that we found him!”

If you are looking to adopt, please consider giving a senior doggo a chance to experience their #furrytailending and happily ever after with YOU. Click here to meet some of them: https://links.soidog.org/Adopt-a-seniordog
