From A Shy Doggo To A Thrill-Seeking Love Bug!

Kylo, previously known as Hadad, is a great example of how the quieter and shyer dogs can thrive once they leave the shelter. In the run, Kylo was overlooked time and time again because of his black coat and his timid demeanour. Sadly, dogs like him struggle to stand out next to their more animated runmates.
In 2018, a local taxi driver brought Kylo to Soi Dog for emergency care after he was struck by a moving vehicle and left unable to walk. With extensive surgery to his legs, this resilient boy pulled through and was eventually able to walk normally again. A year and a half later, Kylo was adopted and travelled all the way to British Columbia, Canada to live his best life. His adopter, Lisa, recently sent us an update of a completely different dog, and we couldn’t be happier to hear it.
“I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing Kylo is! I can’t believe I was lucky enough to have him as he is THE PERFECT dog. I couldn’t have asked for better. I’m surprised at how quickly he has adapted and how quickly he has changed. Though he can still be shy near big dogs and strangers, he is overall a pretty confident dog. He absolutely LOVES car rides and exploring. We’ve gone hiking, we’ve been to a tiny home/cabin, we go to the beach a couple times a week, and of course all the dog parks I can find. He is such a happy guy, and he loves rolling around in the grass like a puppy and his zoomies are hilarious!
He is just learning how to play! To date, he has played with 4 other doggos at the dog park. He is also learning how to play with a stick, and occasionally my socks. When he is off leash, he is a lot more confident, and will happily walk up to strangers and politely smell them. He even lets them pet him sometimes! He adores my sister and my best friend and he is warming up to my other friends one by one as well. His recall is amazing. My friends are shocked at how well he listens to me.
He is super smart too. I swear he understand what I am saying [laughing emoji]. When he walks on trails with me off leash and I tell him to go the “other way”, he knows and will turn in the direction I ask him to go. He is so loyal. He always stays near me, and even when he goes to adventure around, he ALWAYS comes running when called. He is the best adventure buddy in the world.
He loved camping so much that I rented out a RV home for a week at the end of this month and will be taking him on a week long road trip up to Banff in Alberta. At home, he is calm, well mannered, and potty trained himself within a day or two. He is so lazy at home, and so active when outside. He is JUST LIKE ME. He also has ZERO food aggression. Honestly, he has no aggression whatsoever. The vet even mentioned that he is one of the sweetest dogs he’s seen especially when in such a nervous state! I was a proud momma when I heard that [heart emoji] He also REALLY loves comfort items i.e. blankets and piles of pillows are his favourite. He’s definitely living the life!”
