Beautiful Tigress gave birth to 5 puppies on the street. We managed to bring Tigress and her family into our shelter in 2017.
Tigress suffers postpartum depression after the birth of litter. Postpartum depression in dogs is caused by hormones, current stress or past manisfestion of anxiety. It leads to feeling biologically unwell and varying negative manifestations of behaviour.
Tigress is staying in her own crate. Despite staying with us for about 3years now, she is still very wary of human beings. She will grin every time we walk pass her crate, except when her caretaker approaches.
It is difficult to care for a dog who feels depressed and unable to get up. However, it is possible to treat and help them to get back on track. Just like us humans, they just need a lot of love and interaction, support and care.
