We are thrilled to share with you the WWF Sharkulator, a calculator web app, for the first time ever to count how many sharks can be saved when you choose not to consume shark fin soup. For example, it only takes to refuse 8 bowls of shark fin soup in order to save 1 shark!

Based on a WWF-Malaysia consumer survey conducted by IPSOS in 2018, we found that special gatherings remain as the main reason for people to eat shark fin soup, particularly in Chinese wedding banquets (68%), followed by corporate events (32%).

Hence, the next time you go to a banquet, team up with your family or friends,choose an alternative dish to replace shark fin soup, and go fin-free!
