This Adoptasheltercatmonth We Wanted To Share Some..

This #AdoptAShelterCatMonth we wanted to share some happy stories of just a few of our cats who found homes all over the world.

Saengrawee was only a few months old when she met with a terrible car accident that injured her tail. Her tail was broken, she couldn’t relieve herself and was in so much pain.

Thanks to your contributions, Soi Dog vets managed to save her life by amputating her tail.

However, the injuries she sustained had some long lasting effects on her. She became slightly incontinent.

Even though Saengrawee grew into a beautiful tabby tigress with a matching personality, the chances of Saengrawee finding a home started to look less and less likely.

She was an unbelievably happy, outgoing, and her confidence as well as her affection for people were undeniable.

Yet, no one really wanted her because of her special needs.

Until…a volunteer couple who had adopted a special needs #SoiDogRescue doggie previously reached out to open their home to another dog as well as a cat and picked Saengrawee.

Saengrawee was a very special girl in many ways due to her very unique needs related to her health as well as her behaviour but, she now lives in the USA with her new family of adopted cat and dog siblings.

We are delighted to share a recent update we received from her family:

“Saengrawee has been the most confident and outgoing cat since the minute we got her home! She runs up and greets everyone and anyone, without much regard for personal space :) . She is incredibly playful and agile, and rarely sits still (except when snuggling with her dad). Saengrawee loves steamed chicken, exploring our backyard (on leash), and lounging in her mouse house. She (and we) have overcome some challenges as well – (stomatitis which is a very painful inflammation in the mouth) and she had to have almost all of her teeth surgically removed (the only way to treat the disease).

She bounced back so quickly and was so grateful for no more pain. She also went through a phase where she refused to use her litter box at all (we knew of her incontinence issues, but she still would use the box some of the time when she first arrived). After many weeks of trying six different boxes with varying types and depths of litter, we concluded she just didn’t like the room she was in and the problem resolved itself when we moved her to a different room!

Lastly, we had hoped Saengrawee would be the perfect friend for our young kitty Bella. Turns out Saengrawee had different plans :) . We tried a very veryyyy slow and thoughtful introduction process to no avail. Saengrawee’s a wild one that doesn’t know social boundaries in cats and just runs up aggressively at Bella (even though her intent isn’t aggressive). Just when we were about to give up, we decided to foster a kitten – turns out a 4 month old kitten is more confused than scared by Saengrawee’s aggressive approach. Hard to say if they are friends, but they now chase each other around and keep each other entertained for the time being.

So while our perfect plan of a friend for Bella wasn’t successful, it doesn’t matter. Saengrawee has added a light to our lives – she is amazingly resilient and so fun to be around. We are so grateful to be her parents! We just got her a huge cat tree to play around in…”

Saengrawee’s story is an inspiration to all who knew her because she deserves all the love in the world that seemed so out of reach but her story is proof that there is a home for every shelter cat.

We just need to look harder.
