Soi Dog’s mobile clinics in Bangkok are hard at work 💪❗
Soi Dog Foundation’s #spayandneuter programme (Catch | Neuter | Vaccinate | Return) operates across Thailand to help end the suffering of street dogs and cats by humanely managing their overpopulation. In February, we reached a milestone by neutering and vaccinating over 400,000 dogs and cats since 2003. Even with the recent lockdowns and restrictions, the Soi Dog CNVR teams have managed to neuter a further 32,826 animals by the end of May bringing the total number of animals sterilised to 432,826!
Although our mobile clinic teams in Bangkok and other areas have not been able to set up their clinics in populated areas as they usually do, they have made the most of the situation by focusing on feral dogs that are more difficult to catch.
Dogs that hide away from the community tend to be quite reserved and shy in nature. But their health is at risk, especially due to inbreeding and lack of vaccinations. Outbreaks of distemper, parvovirus, sarcoptic and demodectic mange and canine transmissible tumours (TVT) are all too common in areas with unvaccinated stray animals. These diseases, rarely seen in the West, are prevalent in Thailand. This is why the ‘V’ in our CNVR programme is truly vital.
Our mobile sterilisation clinics across Thailand are crucial in reducing the numbers of homeless dogs and cats. Help us reduce animals born into a world of suffering: https://links.soidog.org/support-soidog-cnvr-project
