Despite their similarities to us and being highly intelligent 💡, you’d be surprised to know they aren’t very social creatures and prefer to keep to their own, up in the trees 🌳 and away from predators. Even amongst themselves, adult males live in solitude until they mind female orangutans who are ready to mate. They stay together and upon successful mating, the adult males carry on with their solitary lives. 😯

On the other hand, adult females will care for their young until they reach puberty. While males leave their mothers, young female orangutans stay with their mother even when she has her own infant. 🐒
