This mama-cat has quite a story to begin with. Not knowing that she had just delivered, Amy Thum had caught her one night and got her spayed. Later, the mama-cat brought her litter of two kittens right up to Amy's doorstep as though asking for shelter.

Flashback: The smart mama-cat and her kittens in Amy's apartment (May 1, 2011)
Later, Amy got the mama and both kittens adopted and all was well until a few weeks ago, when the adopter said she wanted to return the mama to Amy. The two kittens had been re-adopted through this first adopter.
So, the mama came back, but the poor thing was very thin. Even while being with the adopter, something had seemed wrong as the adopter had also brought her to the clinic.
Amy texted me to ask for help this morning, so I got her an appointment to bring the cat this afternoon to our panel vet.
It turned out that the mama has very severe gum infection. It is so bad that the inside of her mouth is filled with boils the size of 5-sen coins.
Poor, poor thing....
No wonder she has trouble eating and she is so thin.
The treatment for this is to go under sedation and have some of the back teeth extracted. The gums in this area have already been very badly infected. Also, steroid injections will be administered onto the boils to reduce the inflammation.
If mama doesn't have AIDS or leukemia, she should begin to heal after the treatment. If she has....well, it'll be back to the drawing board.
Amy has taken her home today and will fast her overnight for tomorrow's treatment.
Poor mama is in such great pain with so many boils inside her mouth.
The vet said this is about the worst case of gum infection that she has seen.
Get well soon, mama.
Mama's treatment is sponsored from our funds.
