Lately, we witnessed more and more incidents of local councils catching strays, especially dogs. This is of course due to the fact that more and more members of the public filed complaints against them. Let’s get one thing straight, we love stray dogs and cats for many reasons, one of the most important reasons is to fight for their rights. They are lives, they have feelings too and they deserve to live just like we do. The local councils are not what we are up against but the dog and cat haters are. The local councils are just the messengers and don’t “ kill “ them. Instead, make them your friends. The haters need to be educated and be aware that the stray dogs and cats have rights too. First and foremost, they have the right to live ! The main reason which triggered the haters to complain is that they felt threaten by the strays, especially dogs. Let’s recall, in the past 10 years, how many incidents of strays attacking humans ? 2? 3?4? 5 maybe ? That was most probably due to the fact that the strays were provoked at first. But how many incidents we would hear a human harming another ? EVERYDAY ! Why? Just because they are animals ? Not guilty until proven otherwise. They can’t sentence the strays to death just because they felt threaten?? These are lives we are talking about ! For the local councils, if given a choice, they wouldn’t want to catch and kill the strays but when they don’t act, the haters would cite the reason that they are tax payers and the local councils should act as they were told. But how about the stray lovers? Aren’t we tax payers too?? How come we don’t have a say in this?? Has anyone wrote to them lately? We strongly urge all of you who love our strays to write to these councils diplomatically in your own words to urge them to stop the current inhumane culling method in curbing the stray overpopulation problem. Instead, adopt a proven and more humane method such as TNR Program. All these years, local councils only heard it from the haters, they need to hear our voices too so they will think twice before making any move, be it in action in killing the strays or passing any bills or laws which are not in favour of them. There is only one council in KL, the mighty DBKL and 9 in Selangor. Please google on their emails and start writing to them. For other states, please google and find out the informations and write to them. Please act for the sake of the strays. Be an action hero, not just keyboard warrior. The strays can’t speak for themselves, they rely on us to speak for them. Only you can turn things around for them. Please help to share. Thank you so much.
