Today, we spent the afternoon in a Kemaman town planning meeting. We were placed under the Tourism sector, together with @wwfmy and @ecocarekertih, Kemaman Mini Zoo, Jabatan Perhutanan, Jabatan Mineral dan Geosains.

We discussed the issues that Kemaman is facing in terms of tourism related activities, and we also brainstormed about ways to attract more tourists to the state. We talked about setting up an agency to oversee the various tourism products in Kemaman, we talked about improving public transportation, and we also talked about the importance of enhancing promotion on our tourism products.

Our rough conclusion is that Kemaman is truly blessed. We have great snacks (keropok lekor, satar, lemang), great beaches (Pantai Ma Daerah, Pantai Kijal, Pantai Kemasik, Pantai Geliga), we have beautiful waterfalls (Jeram Tanduk, Jeram Penitih), we have wildlife (sea turtles, terrapins), and we have recreational treks/hills (Bukit Mak Dayang, Bukit Harimau Menangis).

Certainly it won’t be too difficult to attract tourists to this district? It’s time to step up our game. Set up an umbrella body to oversee all the tourism products. Design trekking/island-hopping/makan/wildlife discovery trails. Provide reliable public transportation. Ensure cleanliness and safety in existing tourist attractions. Promote Kemaman as a tourist destination. It is, after all, Kemaman Idaman. @mpkemaman
